Double Bass Phil Jones Bass Buddy for URB/doubling

I got one a couple of weeks ago and I've been fairly impressed with the unit as a whole. Very solid little unit and a useful set of features in a single box. I'm still experimenting with it for use on my doubling gig, with my iAmp...one instrument (URB or slab) will use the iAmp pre and the other will use the Bass Buddy as a pre, going in through the iAmp's effects return. I just haven't yet decided which bass sounds best in which signal path.

I already know the iAmp's excellent tone-shaping does very well for URB, but it's almost overkill. The PJB Bass Buddy has a simpler eq, and the tonal centers of the sliders seems to be focused on the critical freqs for URB. The optical compressor is a lot more subtle than what you usually find onboard amps. I find myself cutting lots of freqs with this unit though. None boosted at all.

Anyone else using this little guy for URB? How's it work for ya?

I have been watching for posts on this unit as well. What does the power supply look like? Is it one of those in-line big boxes or is it a simple AC cord?

Yep, 'zactly like that. That's the only real negative about this unit, as far as I can see at the moment, and it certainly isn't a deal breaker. Runs on dual 9 volt batteries as well, but I don't know about battery life just yet.
