Phil Jones Bass Cub Pro

I've had my Phil Jones Bass Cub for a couple of months now, I am very happy with it, the best practice amp I have ever heard. Only thing I thought was missing is a passive ext. speaker out and ideally more EQ, but it is a practice amp. Then I just saw the PHIL JONES BASS CUP PRO, apparently only available in Japan. 5 band EQ, and passive ext. speaker out providing up to 240 w (with external speaker) only thing missing on this Pro unit is the limiter. These amps are a great way to go as a head and a practice amp all in one, and it is lighter and smaller than some tube heads I have owned. Hope these are available in North America soon! Also wish Phil Jones would put this unit in a pre amp pedal, and make a pedal with their limiter. What do talk bass people think?

I've had the tiny double-four as a practice amp for years, but just recently went for the bp 800 head (which I'm willing to bet has the exact same 5 band EQ they're using on this new stuff - even down to the new knob shape) and I absolutely love it. I would definitely buy this preamp in a pedal if they made it! I've used the double-four's line output into a power amp one time but that's obviously pretty impractical. Passive PJB cabinets are on my long term GAS list as well - the mini speaker thing sure looks silly to me but they sound SO damn good...

Edit: I know they did have the "bass buddy" thing with the graphic eq, compression, DI, etc, but having the 10W amplifier built in makes that more of a head/di box than a preamp pedal to me (and probably raised the price beyond the value of its usefulness to me). Would still buy one if I didn't have more important things to spend on though lol

Yeah I quite fancied the Bass Buddy, but I don't need a 10 w head. I'd still get one if I found a used at the right price though.

I ordered one from Japan (Ikebe Music) and love it for the ext. speaker option.

I think it sounds quite like the regular cub, but I’ve only played the original model besides this one.
The back panel shows 100-120V, btw.

Bass Cub II = 110 Watts
Bass Cub Pro = 120 Watts + you can add an extension cab bringing the amp to 4 ohms @ 240 watts
