Looking to see if I can find one of these combos to try and hopefully to use at home for a real good high fidelity bass amp. Anyone have one or tried one and can comment on how they sound. It's an updated model, now with a 5 band EQ (low bass, high bass, midrange, low treble, high treble), increased wattage and power amp and different speakers. How does it sound with only 2 five inch speakers. I'm not interested in gigging volume just sound quality. Thanks.

Phil Jones BG-120 Bass Cub Pro

I am using the Cub Pro with a C4 CAB.... It gets pretty deep... I usually am rolling back the low bass to compensate.
Good to know! I've been debating purchasing that same rig. Do you feel it's an adequate enough combo to keep up in a live setting? I have used a C8, so I know the speakers are capable - I guess that's more questioning the 120/250 watts available since I've never used a PJB amp before. Also, not trying to derail here, but specs say the C4 is larger than the Cub by 1.5-2" or so in WxD. Any chance you could post a pic of your PJB rig for reference?
I was let down by and returned a BG120/C4 pairing.
Pleasant and detailed *at low volumes* or with non-bass instruments. On paper it sounds so promising. If that whole set up used their 7" drivers I bet it would be terrifically versatile.
Consider a pair of C27 and a 400 or 800 W PJB head.

I just played a large rock gig with 3 guitars, drummer, Keys, 5 singers and a orchestra. I used the BG120 and C4 as a monitor while also using in-ears..... I can tell you it handles itself fine.... Was it the loudest amp on stage... no..... but could I hear it just fine when I was near it.... absolute... and it sounds great. Would it have worked with out PA support... No but when I need to be loud I always have PA support.... The DI out was fantastic. Front of house loved the signal they were getting.... He told me it was one of the cleanest that he has gotten for this show. I have included some pics as well.
Just FYI most of my gigs outside of this for indoors I will use just the BG120 by itself (Jazz and Coffee shop gigs no PA support) Outdoor Gigs for the same thing I will add the C4.... May or May not have PA support for those but I am not too worried.

I like the look of the BG120 on top of the C4. Thank god Mr. Marshall Stack had the left side of the stage all to his own. I've taken the plunge and ordered my 120 yesterday. Looking forward to running it through its paces.
Can the Cub Pro 120 be paired with a C8, and will it turn to 240W? Anyone tried this combo?
I ordered a C4 Compact Speaker and tried it with my Warwick Gnome V2 280w amp head. Unfortunately, the reviews and specs on paper are promising, but the reality is not. It cannot handle Low D and B on a 5-string bass. After a little volume, it starts to buzz. I tried it at home, not even on stage. And the volume that you can go with low D and B is inferior. I returned it immediately. However, when I match it with a TC RS112, which is a 12" Eminence driver, it sounds like a dream. So, the 5" drivers cannot handle low frequencies. It is physics.
According to Phil Jones literature, the PJB BG120 connected to the 8 ohm C8 will deliver 240 watts. I haven't tried it. I use my BG120 with my double Bass and electric upright in jazz ensembles and it performs greatly.
I have been using my C4 with a Mesa wd800 and a G&L L-2500 active and tuned to D standard. I have been running this rig for 3 or 4 years in a metal band, a classic rock band and also a Sade tribute and it has always kicked ass. None of the problems you have experienced. The C4 wants to see power and that little gnome doesn't have it.
