Phil Jones stuff?

Yup. Been there done that. Sounds good but not stellar IMO....is heavy and expensive compared to the competition.

Right, Please can you tell me for the same budget, what else can I have that's lighter & will produce the exact same sound, i.e. I dial in the old school, deep jazz bass sound with a little growl sometimes, but mostly clean, deep loud & thumpy. Please give weight comparison in reply. I would love to try them out. Regards, Bassman 100

I just picked up a Briefcase for my theatre gigs (using the amp for a monitor only, and not needing a lot of volume). It's pretty amazing given its size and for my purposes, works beautifully. It's the one time that the sound from the DI is exactly the same as the sound out of the speakers themselves.

The biggest advantage for me is that the sound is not boomy but focused (I'm assuming it's due to the 5" speakers). Especially in a theatre setting, any previous amp I couldn't turn up, given that a 12" speaker will definitely put out more residual low end, and ultimately have me keep the amp well under reasonable volume. No problem here; it's a soundguy's dream.
