Since life is (potentially) a series of missteps in a progressive direction until one can find the 'rhythm' they can sync with, how would you describe your philosophy of music as the years flow by?

I'm sure the way you felt playing live with Beck was different than Nine Inch Nails, dynamically and viscerally. Is there a common thread, outside of you being the cornerstone of your experience, that threads every step you've taken along the way? While this goes beyond playing bass, you're a really intelligent person and I think it would be beneficial to all the cats you've inspired and will continue to inspire, to hear your thoughts on this.

You're a deep one, consilience. I feel what you're saying. My philosophy, or rather my M.O., is simply an ebbing and flowing back to the same core intent: to inspire, elevate, release, awaken...and to do that via all manner of vehicles without restriction: absurdity, comedy, danger, violence, mystery, beauty, the contrast between pleasure and pain. That all sounds very pretentious, but I think that way at my core. I think a lot of us do. A lot of it is very similar despite genre divisions.

Right on JmJ. I feel the same. All my formative years, I felt slightly different. Sure, history provides glowing examples of those discontent with the mores of the time, pushing relentlessly to create, to feel and to get others to do likewise. Kinda rolling with Jung's collective subconscious with this one. It's as if one half of an artist must die to belong.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for what you're doing; what we are all doing in our own way. Something has to counter entropy. Besides, what good is all the BS in the world, if the beauty channeler's don't supply the contrast?

You definitely don't sound pretentious. You sound genuine. : )
