Metalmoore, here's your Fenderbird you asked for. I did one in black too just because I thought it looked badass. Let me know if I got it right. BTW I love Fenderbirds. I don't know why someone doesn't make them.
Check out some of the Fbass models for their black grain. They have it down to a science. I'm sure if you e-mail Mr. Furlanetto he would tell you exactly what they use to do it and how they do it.

It's beautiful! Love the little details, like the visibile record grooves (what is that sample record, anyway? would never have though of the yellow/red combo, but looks great) and that you gave it an actual SX headstock.

They both have ramps, FYI. The first one is just kinda hard to see, being a koa ramp on the koa body.
I noticed the koa ramp.
I dunno if I like it stealthy koa, or the exposed ebony more, one truth, there are no bad choices, just choices.
Speaking of which, you never sent me that pic, I'd still like to somehow get you a working one for your Geddy.
