I really should drill my math a bit, it's been a long time (well, 3 years) and this thread makes me realize I forgot nearly everything. I didn't do that much (just one year in chemistry, so two maths class and a math lab) but it still sucks to lose it.

I like pi but I always liked Avogadro's Number, for some reason.

Try the Boltzmann Constant. It is the Gas Constant divided by the Avogadro Constant.

Now if you want to get into some serious arguments about why your choice of resistors make your amp sound awesome, and are worth $50-a-piece from some website, you can talk about current noise in resistors. And you'll use the Boltzmann Constant to define it.:hyper:

Much less awesome, but it was still fun, I remember doing that in a math lab:

Conic sections are fun.

Graph the following equation:

x2-4x+y2+6y=3

If a parabola: determine its vertex and axis of symmetry, and graph its x and y-axis intercepts.
If a circle: determine its center point and radius.

Yes, but used in the Gas Laws, I've always found it pretty redundant...just one constant over another :)

Stealing this from xkcd because it's funny.

How does one make a circle with a dot in the center... that one!

If the above can't be accomplished on a computer, then I vote "alt+236".

Pi is for geometry-lovers. Go on and try some e. It will get you through Calculus.

I tried some once and all I wanted to find was some water.

You're imagining things. :)

My favourite physical constant belongs to Planck.

Is that how plancking started? :smug:

Very good.

For those that haven't heard it..... there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

Best maths joke ever.

Thats a good one!
