Double Bass Piano Trios (Pno, vln, vcl)

Hey all,

I'm a part of a small music program, and I am having difficulty with setting up a group for chamber. I was wondering if any of you have knowledge on what the more accessible piano trios are, if the bass were to play the cello part at octave? Thanks.

If you're looking for classical music, early Haydn trios work well and you can play most of them at pitch. For modern music there's quite a selection of bass, piano and another instrument. A modern piece I"ve wanted to play is Serge Lancen's double concerto for violin and bass with the piano reduction of the orchestra. It's on Billaudot. Are you "stuck" with just a violinist?
