Pick a tune you know very well.....

Who is the performer?
Who is the bass player?
Are there any effects or special settings?
Whats the tempo?
What is the time signature and style?
What key?
How many measures does the song have?
What is the form of the song (i.e. Intro, verse, chorus, instrumental, verse ii, outro)

What beat does the intro start on?. What is the intro form (i.e. 5 4 1 5 one time)? What finger and note do you use to kick off the song?

Same for rest of the song.

Do you know the lyrics?

Is there a cue in the instrumental to switch chords or go back to the verse(think ZZ Top)?

Are there any pauses or holds in the song?

How do you end the song?

Can you transpose the song up 3 notes and down 3 notes?

Anything else?

The 12/8 time signature can be very handy.

I don't want to always be 'that guy', but in 6/8 time, the beat is a 'dotted crotchet' (

) and there are 2 beats to the bar, so the division would always be "/// ///". If you see a division like "// // //" then the beat is a single crotchet (quarter) and there are 3 to the bar, so the signature is 3/4...
