Pick between these two 5 string basses

So, from one of my previous threads I have narrowed my choice of a new 5 string to either a Squier Vintage Modified Precision V or a Yamaha 425x. Lots of positive things said about both of these instruments. They have the same string spacing at the bridge (18mm), which is very close to my MIM Fender 4-string. I am aware of the price differences between them, but that is of no consequence for this particular decision.

Will be using it in a band that plays tunes from Collective Soul, Pink Floyd, Muse, Tom Petty, Seven Mary Three, The Eagles, Georgia Satellites, etc.

Both are great. More versatility with the Yamaha due to the J pickup, IMHO. I'd take either.

I'd go with the Yamaha.... Back in the day, I owned a BB300 (very similar to the 425x, minus all the chrome and the 'J' pup). I LOVED that bass! You could get a broad range of USEFUL tones out of that single 'P' pickup, I can only imagine the 425x would be a tone monster. Construction, fit and finish is also top-notch.
