I like to use 1mm or 2mm picks. I usually use the 1mm on bass.

DUNLOP BIG STUBBIES. big purple easy to grip. nice pic. but for real bassists... if u want a pick that duzznt sound like a pick, get a wedgie. they are rubber picks made for bass... they dont sound punk at all.... but in my opinion thats ok. there verry "thumpy"

either the jimmy dunlop clear yellow ones XL or the jim dunlop gator grip 1.5 mm yeah thats the sound.

I use those plastic glossy picks, made by Dunlop I believe, with a local music store's logo and info on it. They're like 10 for a buck canadian. Small, regular size (I played those triangular kinda picks for a while, but they feel too slow for me), and medium to heavy gauge. I hate very floppy picks, but heavy picks feel slow and hard to strum with.

I find that a thin (1mm), but stiff pick produces fewer scratchy noises on bass strings. Guitar strings are less prone to them, so thicker picks work fine there. In general, I find a thick pick to be more comfortable.

I've tried just about every pick known to man. I have quite an impressive pick collection in my drawer. And I have found that Dunlop Tortex .88 triangles work best for just. Just the right size for comfort and my open handed technique. I'll sometimes rock a regular size .88.

I have recently started using Dulop Big Stubies, 1.0 and 2.0 mm. I have the most control with the 2.0 because of the indent. Oh, I don't play much punk, I play whatever the guitarist is playing.
