pick sound not as loud as fingerstyle sound

I usually play fingerstyle, but sometimes a pick is more appropriate. But the volume is then lower, especially the low end, even when plucked hard. How can I modify my pick technique to avoid this drop in volume?

You'll probably get more volume, and especially more bottom end, by picking close to the neck rather than near the bridge.

Alternatively, it could be that your pickstyle technique is fine, but your fingerstyle is too "loud." I generally play fingerstyle with a soft touch -- "turn up the amp and let it do the work" -- and if anything I have the opposite problem. If you tend to pluck aggressively, you might try lightening up to reduce the discrepancy in volume with your pick playing.

Is this a thing? Picking has always sounded way louder to me?

It's not as much it lacks bass as it has a lot more highs in the attack.
Are you using a stiff enough pick?
The right pick can make those strings move just as much if not more than fingers with almost no effort.
