picked up an epiphone flying v bass

its huge, its a short scale but is longer than a regular 34'' bass, its kinda awkward to play so i might have to install a strap button elsewhere on it, and im still getting used to the string tension change but it has a massive tone and looks beautiful, anyone else have one? what do you think about them?

Congrats! I had a Gibson flying V six string that also seemed extremely long for a guitar, but the factory location of the strap buttons worked well on it.

I had this weird, 1970s half round living room chair that had been in my moms attic, and that was the only chair that I could play the flying V while sitting. So if you plan to play seated, you might wanna hit up some antique/retro furniture stores.

Sweet!!! I love flying V's. I have an Ibanez version that I bought new in 76 or 77. I think they are comfortable to play especially sitting with one leg in the middle of the V. Standing needs a wide leather strap to get rid of neck dive. Rock on!!!

Part of me REALLY want one, but the ergonomics are a dealbreaker for me. Uncomfortable on a strap and REALLY bad when sitting down. But it certainly LOOKS cool!!! If you can somehow make it work without being too uncomfortable, you should certainly get some attention at gigs!!! Bonus point for not needing a guitar stand :D but I dread to think of the size of the case (if there is one).

Here’s my white one. I moved the strap button to the back of the neck, removed the selector switch, and swapped the pickups for EMGs.

To be honest, I don’t like the tone, and I often consider selling it, but then I play it and it’s just a fun guitar to play, so I keep it. There aren’t really any for sale, so I have a feeling it’s got a bit of value, but I’m still hanging in to it.
