Pickguard color

what color pickguard would you put with a gold bass. My first choice might be black. Any other suggestions.

What kind of bass?

Black would be a good choice for almost any bass (Or guitar)--If it's possibel to be without a pickguard on a bass, I prefer that look--but if it isn't possible, black is always an option

white or black pearloid or gold anodized might look snazzy.
