I had to go tort but a clear guard with gold backspray would be the teats.
I don't usually like tort but it does look great on that bass. I would like to see white pearl or black pearl

I've pondered this many times about white basses, they just don’t do it for me ordinarily, no matter what you do.
But a for sure conclusion is, I don’t like white/white.
I’m really not a big fan of black PG’s 90% of the time although they look good on red, yellow, and butterscotch or natural.
On the other hand white with gold hardware is awesome, especially for semi-hollows.
In your case I vote tort because it is actually a good-looking white bass with tort.
Also, I can see black on white with all black H/W if it had a maple neck.

I usually go black, but on a white bass tort is better. Black on white looks like a magpie.

To me the tort on white with the rosewood neck just go together.
I voted tort, but only because I am not particularly a fan of single-ply pickguards, with the exception of gold anodized. Single-ply says cheap to me for some reason. Just a particular taste. I like black on white, usually, and might have changed my mind if the black guard was BWB or something like that.
The tort looks good. The black looks good too, but every note would sound like " dirnt dirnt dirnt dirnt".
50's style P basses call out for the black guard.

Also true, but in this instance even I can't fault it.
FWIW - the comment about the single black maybe not working as well as a BWB is also on point. That's not always my opinion, but on this bass in particular it almost screams for another point of visual interest.
I voted black. Because I can't stand tort. Ever. Plus I really like black.

I would be all over the black or white if they were not single ply. As a poster above suggested, it wants another visual contrast or point of interest that BWB or WBW would provide.
I have 4 white Fender style basses. A Jazz, a P, a PJ and a reverse P. All currently wear WBW guards.

To my mind single ply definitely doesn't work. You need to be looking at BWB or WBW.
