Pickup covers???????

Adding a chrome cover over a pickup? In a nutshell, Yes.
If the (4 string) bass has either a standard P pickup or J pickup, you can buy a cover and drill and install it.
The bridge gets tricky because the chrome covers were designed to fit over the stock stamped steel bridge. So if you have a taller high mass aftermarket thing it probably wont fit.

+1. Some Fender models come stock with Bad Ass II bridges, and the bridge covers definitely won't fit over them.
If I remember correctly, the P Bass p/u cover is different from the J Bass neck p/u cover. You'll want to see which fits your needs best.
I've got a Badass3 on my P-bass - anyone know if a chrome cover fit? The 3 is about as wide as a regular Fender bridge.
No. The problem isn't width, it's the length and the height and the thickness of the back plate.
Yup. No mistaking one from the other, though. The J bass bridge cover is twice as big as the P-bass cover and has that Honkin' big "F" stamped on it.
The Jazz pickup cover is widest in the middle and tapers on the ends, while the Precision pickup cover has no taper at all. FWIW, I doubt either bridge cover would fit on a Mustang bass.
I thought the OP might be referring to the actual pickup covers. You know, made of plastic and usually black.
I've been wondering the same thing, I've got a 62 pickup that I'd like to have cream covers on instead of black. I'm guessing you'd have to dip them in wax again though.

If you have a Jaguar bass there are no covers made specifically for it. I've seen a P-bass bridge cover on a Vintage Modifed Jaguar (I think Surfer Joe has one) but I've heard that P-bass pickup covers won't fit on them because of where the knobs are.
The Modern Player Jaguar has similar pickups but in slightly different positions.
If you have the Deluxe Jaguar it has two J-bass pickups so who knows.
If you can bend metal and make custom pup covers for Jaguars you'd probably sell a few. Jaguars have a retro style that kind of begs for more chrome.

Warmoth has cream covers that will go over standard P-bass pickups (four poles each).
