Pickup Dillema

Hi folks,

I'm ordering myself a custom bass very soon and one thing that's on my mind is the pickup setup. I'm not going to ask you about which ones to use as I know that already, I will ask you did any of you ever had 3 humbuckers in your bass. At the moment I have a 6 string Ibanez 556Mp but I feel it could benefit with additional humbucker between the 2 already in it. I always thought that by lowering the volume of let's say a bridge pickup you somehow lose the sound in space between the pickups If you know what I mean:eyebrow:.

In addition to that if anyone is familiar with the pre-amp on the Ibanez 556MP i was wondering if it's possible to have switches on/off type for some of the modelling, for example it has quite a nice mid cut but I always find it hard to reach for the knob whilst playing fast tunes. In addition I would like to have a bypass switch as well. All in all it's 5 control pre-amp with 2 switches, do you know of anything out there that has this setup? Any advice would be very much apreciated.

Regards
Jack
