Hello I have a Cleveland New Standard hybrid that I love. I have an Underwood pickup on it and it does not do the sound of the bass justice. Can any New Standard players recommend a pickup for this bass? It's strung up with Belcantos. Thank you.

Double Bass Pickup for a Cleveland New Standard?

I've had a David Gage Realist LifeLine pickup on my Cleveland for a year and I'm very happy with it. Bob G. has a seven day free trial period.
Before you start throwing money at the problem, try using just one of the Underwood's elements and let the other one dangle. Using both causes significant phase problems that drive me insane.
I also got a better sound by using only one element of an Underwood pickup, but I find a noticeable improvement in the sound of my bass when there is nothing wedged in the bridge wing.
I agree with ctxbass but to my ears most pick-ups sound more like each other than the actual acoustic sound of a particular bass...
If I were to put a pick up back on my bass now it would be the APTflex or the Lifeline. I had good luck with the Realist too.

I'm still a big proponent of the Ehrlund. It is a little finicky but once you get it dialed in it's fantastic! Really great sound for everything but the loudest gigs.
