Pickup height for Guild BS-1 Bisonics... How??

Without really meaning to, I'm now the owner of two basses with Guild BS-1 pickups. A Guild Starfire I, and a really nice Serek Sacramento. I mean, I really wanted the basses, but never gave a thought to the pickups. I really like these pickups (and, the basses too - naturally). There's no problem with pickup height on the Starfire, but... on the Sacramento? The G and the A string - especially the G string - are giving me that weird, chorus-y tone that says "Lower the pickup, dummy!" My problem is... HOW? Do I
- Take the trim rings off, to uncover height adjustment screws?
- Take the pickups out entirely, and shim (or remove a shim, in this case) the things, like I have to do with my '50s design Gretsch Broadkaster?
- Or what?
Help with this conundrum would be greatly appreciated...
And, no, it isn't a problem with loose tuners, or string height, or the bridge. This is a problem I've had more than once, and it's always boiled down to the pickup(s) being to close to the strings...

There’s 4 sets of polepieces and 4 screws across from them. The screws adjust the polepiece height. Unless Serek does something different there’s not really another adjustment short of removing the whole pickup (the 4 screws in the corners) and either shimming the complete assembly or removing shims or spacers.

You know, I wondered about that. But, most of the basses I own, with pickups like that? The screws are there for looks, or at best, act as dummy poles for the second, humbucking pole. And, no; far as I can see, Serek mounted them just like Guild did on my Starfire I. So, thanks; problem solved - I hope...
