Pickup identification

Hi guys,

Bought a 78 Fender pbass in Japan with a non original pickup, due to language barrier I couldn't get any info regarding the replacement pickup, but it sound very bottomed and good and the price was very good (about 1200$) so I bought the bass,

Anyway I've already replaced the pickup to an original 78 and sold the bass but still have the pickup that came with the bass,

They have no markings and I wonder if they can be identified

Any help will be appreciated,

They look like modern Fender pickups you might pull out of a MIM P Bass.

The few I've seen on like actual looks a bit different, most are with 2 magnetic strips and the ones w/o have squared hols between the polls at the bottom.. so I don't know,

Also why do someone replace a 78 with an mim pickup?

So that they can keep the more valuable pickup! You sell a '78 P bass with a replacement pickup locally and somebody doesn't check the pickup. You keep the '78 pickup and put it in another bass. Visually the '78 P Bass looks correct, but you've kept the pickup.

Well the owner sold it directly to the store and he mentioned he replaced the pickup, they sold it for about 1200$, they bought it for less so he didn't gain anything out of it... Anyway, seems unlikely, but OK.. It's a fair guess
