Pickup installation question

For someone with no experience at this, would I be better off taking it to a proffesinal, or is it a pretty easy thing to do? I don't f**k up my bass.

If I would be better off taking it somewhere, do you know if Guitar Center, and about how much does it cost?

SX Jazz.

I probaly don't want to risk soldering myself...

Anyone know about Guitar Center?

You'd be better off trying it youself, BLINDFOLDED, than taking to to a GC. I'm not sure that they all even offer work anymore on instruments you didn't buy there.

Try smaller local music stores. They almost always have a guy who can do this stuff in his sleep, and usually for not too much money.

But, a cheap SX bass is the perfect place to learn how to do it yourself. Look around online for some guides on soldering (i.e. try Googling 'How to Solder Guitars' or somesuch) and get a basic soldering iron setup from Radio Shack. There's not much you can hurt that can't be replaced cheaply on an SX. Even replacing every piece of wire and every Pot on the bass wouldn't ring up a bill over $20 at Guitarelectronics.com. And you'd be hard pressed to mess up the pickups while soldering as all the soldering is done at the end of several inches of wire coming from the pickups.

I vote try it yourself.
