Pickup/Preamp Ideas

I have a MIM Jazz V that I intended to make into an active fretless. I installed SD Quarter Pounders and an Audere 3 band drop-in preamp. It sounds so good as a fretted bass, I want to leave it alone.

I am considering doing this all over again with another Jazz fiver (I also have an open mind about other fretless basses, but my hope is to have another fretless Jazz fiver). I like the SD/Audere combo, but I am researching and pondering pickup/preamp combo ideas. I'm thinking plenty of mids with a solid bottom. Playing lots of swing, standards, and maybe everything.

I would appreciate your suggestions, experiences, wisdom, and expertise.

The fact that that Glockenklang EQ centers the highs at 18khz makes it perfect for a fretless.
