Pickup question that I should probably know the answer to!

Hi all,

I have recently acquired a nice Jazz bass copy and am very pleased with it. It sounds great in EITHER the neck or bridge pickups alone, but when i increase the volume of the second pickup the bass end dies away and the sound is thin.

I'm assuming that one of the pickups is wired out of phase.

So, do I just reverse two of the wires on one pickup, or can I just take one pickup out and put it back into the body the opposite way round?

Does it amount to the same thing?

Cheers!

Jim
