Does anyone know of any books that explain how to set-up a bass? Something that would cover topics like bridge adjustment, truss rod adjustment and proper pick-up installation and height adjustment. Information on basic jazz bass wiring is another topic I am looking for, regarding the capacitors and their influence on the overall sound.

Ultimately I'd like to be able to put a bass together that's exactly what I am looking for. I admire the individuals here that share pictures with us of the basses they modify to their own personal preferences. I am inspired by that.

These two will answer your first question. Both are more general, covering all aspects of guitar repair, with some information about basses. They might not have the specific information you want about Jazz bass wiring, but that's the sort of thing you can probably find online (on a Fender forum?) easier than finding a book that covers it.
