Pickup Upgrade Suggestions

Okay I love this little bass the look and feel but it has no power whatsoever hahahah. I was thinking about maybe an EB0 pickup or a knockoff one. I dont have that much money to invest in it but it did only cost me 40 with the amp so I can spend a lil something to spruce it up

For that price, im not sure how much you want to spend on a pickup. Although you could try sticking a jazz pup in there.

Looks like a reasonably well-kept old Japanese knockoff bass. The pickup is nothing special, I'm sure. Artec pickups are very affordable and are pretty popular on a forum I visit.

it looks like a kay bass, or teisco. I have the same bridge and knobs on mine.

I'd leave that bass just the way it is. Those old Japanese basses are getting rare. If you need more oomph get a bigger amp, or use an external preamp.

An EB-0 type pickup might not be what you are looking for anyway.

I hear ya man, I just been wanting to play it on stage with a good sounding pickup hahaha. I might just leave it as a sit around the house bass

Take your bass to a music store and see what it sounds like through a bigger rig. That should shed some light on things and it free too!

I have a classic setup with a 1973 Kustom 250 and a 78 Acoustic 406 2x15. And idk how to describe it like toneless and just not good hahahaha. Idk I used to try to play it with my ampeg too and it just doesn't have a good sound.
