Pickup Volume Decreased??

Hey Guys

I was adjusting the height of the Bridge pup on my Squier Jazz V and noticed one of the springs that go around the screws had come loose. It is MIM pup that I just put in a week ago. When I took it out and fixed everything I also added a new strip of mouse pad underneath. Then when I plug it in and solo the pickup I noticed a significant volume loss. I got out my Fender to compare it to and there is a big difference.

I noticed that some of the wrapping of the coil had been loosened by the vagabond spring. Could this little wrinkle have really made the volume drop that much? I have yet to take off the control plate and I am guessing I may need to possibly resolder the connections. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Do you have the ability to measure the resistance of the pickup? To me it sounds like the coil is damaged or slightly unraveled, and the pickup will need replacing or rewinding. The resistance should be noticeably different than the other pickup along with the drop in volume.

It's shot. Upon closer inspection some of the windings are broken. So I guess I just got a new fridge magnet:rollno:

I suspect a rewind would not necessarily be worth it.
