Pickup winding request

I currently don't have the gear, skill or patience to wind my own pickups There, I said it!

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following:
* 3 single coil bridge pickups (Jazz bass style)
* 4 split coil pickups (Precision bass style)

These are for some 6-string Bass Guitars, with a 34 inch scale, and an 18mm string spacing at the bridge. If possible, I only need the windings in the bobbins - no slugs or magnets. Hopefully that makes sense!

Dunno if you're looking for someone local, but I can highly recommend Sentell Pickups in Sacramento. He takes in repairs/rewinds and ships all over the US.

Technical info:

Most of us pickup winders build up our bobbins around the magnets/pole pieces, and use them as part of the structure. Then we wind the wire on the bobbin. That keeps things simple and efficient and compact.

There are ways to wind "empty" bobbins, but it's some extra work. So, I'm curious why you want the coils without the magnets? Are these Dummy Coils for noise reduction, or do you already have some special magnets that you want to use? In either case, it's better to let the Winder do the installation before winding.

The magnets and the coils are a system that work together. This takes some tweaking in the design stage.One off custom housings can be printed (for a price). I started my career in a “magnetics” production house. It’s an art. I suggest shopping for something currently in production, unless (guessing) you’re prepared to spend $1000 x 7 or more for you project.

I have access to a 3d printer, so I could print the bobbins myself and then send them out to be wound and potted.

If you're already tinkering, this might better suit your needs than outsourcing the winding.

All that I can contribute is that, while we’re at the opposite end of the country, Curtis Novak is in the next neighborhood over from me, and as he is a smaller operation, perhaps(but I don’t know exactly)he would do custom work, but it probably wouldn’t be cheap.

Since starting my own pickup-making project, it has been suggested by a few folks that it would be a good idea to start a thread here in The Luthier's Corner dedicated to building pickups. The intent is to have a thread for all the pickup builders here in LC to contribute, share projects and information about their processes of pickup building.

My most current pickup project has been exhaustively documented in another thread:

but I will post here a video of my winder and the initial stages of a new pickup project.
