Pickups and Preamp

Hi guys, i recently bought a 2001 Modulus quantum5. I was just wondering if i could change my pickups and preamp to Nordstrands? Any of you guys have done it before? And is there any significant changes to tone? Many thanks, im green!

I don't see why not. I did it on two Q5… Sound wise depends on what pickups… what's on your bass right now, Bart, EMG?

Hey man, thanks for the reply. Mine is a EMG. Im not sure what preamps though. There is 4 knobs and two are stacked. 18volt though. Sound is massive from the Emg but i am a nordstrand pickups fan. Heh. So would u think a Nord DC would fit in?

I'm almost positive Nordstrand can do any of their Bartolini-sized pickups (Big Singles, Big Splits, Fat Stacks & Dual Coils) in EMG-sized shells for a custom charge... I have 3 Spectors Euro Bolt-Ons with custom-wound Big Singles in custom 4-string (EMG-35s) & 5-string (EMG-40s) sizes.

...and they're fantastic!

There is no over charge for any standard size shape. BC, P2, P4, EMG 35 40 45…etc

Only over charge is on custom spacing, winding, shapes….

Modulus Q 4/5/6 are all EMG standard shape.

you probably have a EMG pre. I have no experience with Nord + EMG, sorry!
Plus with EMG you'll need to change vol and blend pot value

That is why. I was thinking of just changing everything. I saw someone that has a Q5 but he installed a Nord Dc5 and a nord preamp. Im sure it sounds bloody amazing. Mine is 18 volt btw. Does nordy has a 18volt preamp?

yes. it works both 9v and 18v
