Pignose Hog 30

Does anyone use one of these? I purchased one a few months back becuase it runs on battery.

Seems fine when I play my Breedwood acoustic and with a regular electric guitar. When I plug in my Godin A4 it crackeles and sounds like the speaker is about to blow.

I had the wiring checked on the guitar, and the local repair guys says both the guitar and amp are fine. He thinks the amp is not a bass amp, but it is sold as one..

any advice?

I own one and have used it my Kala U-Bass and G&L ASAT bass. It gets farty if you push the volume. Ok for quiet gigs or as a stage monitor in my acoustic trio when the audience is getting my sound from the PA. I recently switched to a Carvin S400D and a Fishman pre-amp. It handles higher volume better.

I use mine as a practice amp at home, low volume only and it works fine with my Zon 5/1 and P5. I would never use it live unless mic'ed or in an all acoustic situation.

mine was fine for two years with my fenders until i played my L2000 through it, now it's distorting pretty bad, i'm trying to find a cheapo 8" speaker to see if i can get it going again

getting to it.. brought it up to my other repair guy..better but longer distance... We think one problem is in the guitar battery compartment. Thats the big one.. He also thinks he hears a problem stating in the amp speaker... Going to check it out and if so will probably replace the speaker with better but inexpensive one.

will do... My guy is backed up so will not hear until latter this week. Probably will not pick up the Godin and amp until next week... Leaving Friday morning to spend the weekend at the Kruger Brothers Academy... See if I can actually learn something about playing this thing.

so weird thing happened today, plugged in the hog 30 with the back off and the foam insulation removed from the back and it sounded like new, jammed the insulation back into it and screwed the back on, sounded deeper and beefier, now i'm wondering why it sounded distorted, was a wire vibrating off the speaker, don't know, but i'm glad it's working again

Nice! Got mine back turns out the amp is fine..battery compartment on the bass needed fixin, and as I
I suspected the input jack was bad. Sounds good now.

Just FYI these are actually 6 watts rms. Same amp as the Gorilla 30.
