Pink/Blue logo GK cab information.

I know GK cabs get lots of flack around these parts...but I found an old 115b with that super awesome 80's looking logo and decided to go with a retro looking stack under my old 800rb. I may replace the driver eventually...it sounds pretty good for now except the low B...but I just restrung my bass BEAD for the first time so that could be my pickups fault.

I would love any information you have on other cabs with a similar aesthetic. I've seen reference to a 410b and I know for a fact there was a 115b. I've also seen pictures of 4x12 and 2x12 guitar cabs. Was there a 2x10 cab? Anybody know the specs on any of these cabs?

I'm considering buying a 4x12 guitar cab and putting bass speakers in it (There's one in Atlanta and I could probably sell the speakers in it for half the cost of the cab---er two of them. the other two would go in my Twin :) ) It may not be ideal but 4 12s and 1 15 biamped with 2 10s could be pretty cool (or maybe 2 guitar 12s biamped with 2 bass 12s and a 15). If its a closed cab would this be a horrible idea or just a not that great idea?

guitar center used has a 212gs and 115b for sale as well. They're a little overpriced (the 212 is in crappy condition and $149 and the 115 is $199).

The 212gs is a closed back cabinet...what are the chances it would sound ok with bass 12s in it?

I'd say very unlikely that the 212gs gtr cab would sound any better than the 115 b.
I bought a cheap used 115b...pretty cool, but really got it for the pristine logo for one of my 410b's that was missing it.
Part of that sound is the low end roll off that occurs ( I've used those cabs with 400RB) inthe amp.
Designed that way.
Love the 400rb and 410b setup. And even though it sounds "light' on the low end compared to 700rb/212neo, or mb500/212mbe, it never has trouble live. in fact, it will often stand out better in a mix without any loud or boomy concerns.

In any case, I believe the first 210 was grey/wht logo 210T
Never tried one, but had 410T, more watts handling than the 410b, not quite as much mid bite though (IIRC)

I use two 412 guitar cabs for bass, loaded with Eminence Betas. Yes, it could be more efficient but it does a good job with the right amount of power. Even with my 100w Windsor it still pumps some pretty good bass.

I guess you can try it with 2 12s, but don't rule out filling all 4 holes with speakers.

Oh I forgot to add- I believe I have that 212gs... It's actually a guitar cab, but ported (?) weird. But I have the stock Celestions in it. It's SUPER loud for a 212 but not much low end. I added some batting and it did help a little, but the cab is just too small for good bass. With some Eminence Betas or something... idk. Might be better, might not make any difference. At least you'd have a 500w RMS power rating vs 140w with the Celestions. I'd offer them $100 out the door and see what they say, if it has the celestions in it those are probably worth that alone if they're ok.

yeah, that was one of the main factors that led me to buy the 412. It has 4 G12M-70s in it...I should be able to sell them pretty quickly for $50 a piece or so. I'm being patient and asking $70 shipped on ebay right now. I should at least break even on the cab.

I probably won't do 4-12s because it will double the cost of speakers, add more weight and probably won't make it sound that much better (if at all).
