I loved it as a kid, but now i don't care for much of the music on it. I can do without "sides" 3 & 4, with the exception of Hey You and Comfortably Numb...

Animals was the last album where Roger controlled his writing by sticking using metaphor and oblique suggestion which, to me, worked MUCH better than screaming "I'm in pain - the world stinks" like he did in the wall.
I think David Gilmore's assessment of the record sums it up best: The Wall is nothing more than Roger Waters blaming all of his problems on everybody else.
While I agree with David, I do think it is a fantastic record and a true masterpiece. It is rather deep if you really want dig into it. I listened to that album a lot. I really enjoy the "Isn't this where we came in?" that ties the entire record together.
Do you mean this one? I ask because it seems to me few people know about it.

I don't know either of them, so I can't say If Gilmour or Waters is right. But Its my recollection that Waters forced this album down the other members throats to the point that it caused the band to break up. I believe this album (which I own) is found playing at the scene of more suicides than any other piece of music. This is not to say its causing suicides, just that people seem to empathize with it when they check out.
Call me crazy, but I like "the Final Cut" the best of all.
I used to like the Wall more, but my own overplay of it in my teenage years wore me out on it. I still think its about their 4th best album.
+1. GREAT album. Not sure why it wasn't more popular- maybe it was too dark for most folks.Call me crazy, but I like "the Final Cut" the best of all.

I have heard that it was side 2 of Black Sabbath's Paranoid.I don't know either of them, so I can't say If Gilmour or Waters is right. It must have been a super delayed reaction since they released a whole other album with Roger before he left.

...Speaking of which, I have Roger's solo stuff - and I like it... but it is missing something. Some of that PF mojo, I guess.
David Gilmour!
I actually listened to Pros and Cons and Amused to Death yesterday. Jeff Beck is a great guitarist but he's no Gilmour!

Clearly they all do better as a group than split off as individuals. I've seen PF play for their Lapse of reason tour, and I have to say Oz Pink Floyd and Think Floyd (tribute bands) do a better job (I guess they have to) live. I've seen Jeff Beck play and I wasn't that impressed. Never seen Waters though...
I'd actually say that Beck is a much better guitar than Gilmour - but he's *different*. Dave just *fit* with PF...
