Pretty sure he’s tended to use rounds on the fretless rays. I’ll be interested to hear about what the vibe is with these - maybe some variation of the regular cobalt flats?

I’m sure for Pino it’s just one more option - if the La Bellas ever come off the Voodoo bass then they’re going to need a proper funeral

Definitely going to get an extra light set for my fretless when they’re available.

I know it'd defeat the purpose, but they'd have to be coated... EB Cobalts only last a month with my particular body chemistry.
CHROMES and pretty much every other type of flats last me years.

I felt the same way seeing this. I was excited until I saw they were the cobalt alloy.

I WILL be trying these and have been very excited about it since I saw the post. I love flats on all of my basses regardless of what they are and have for decades. Don't care what they cost, I will give them a shot for sure!

Yup I can see myself trying these at some point once we hear a bit about them firsthand here. I have some TI flats on my fretless that I really like and some other flats on my cutlass that I don't know what they are but I love them. It might take some time deciding which bass to change strings on, might have to put these new ones on a stingray.

I want to try these and compare them to the EB Group III flats which I like.

But I'm not interested in those string gauges at all. I want a G string heavier than 40 and an E string lighter than 105.

I'll wait till they introduce other sets or gauges of single strings. A 98 E string is too light and a 108 E string is way too heavy.

I might just try these out. I like the cobalts, and if these are smoother, and hopefully a little more thumpy, they will be perfect.
My bass, with a set of 45-105 Cobalt flats, is pretty much needing a change. Those strings are nearly 10 years old and are starting to deform where they contact the fret.

Why are flatwounds more commonly found in "balanced tension"? La Bella 760FL, Olinto, Thomastik Jazz Flats all have non-rounded gauge numbers for better balance. For roundwounds I often have to mix and match, or they tend to be heavy on D/G and floppy on E.

EB Cobalt Flats are much more flexible than most flats and when I see these statements;

I expect the unusual gauges will still feel fairly balanced.

Any string brand or type with gauge profiles based around the ratio 4/3 between strings or there abouts would have similar balanced tension to the GHS balanced nickels.
