Pitchshifter/octav safty tips needed

I tried to seach this and got nothing so here we go

If i have an octav or pitch shift pedal will it damage them to send an unclean signal through it?

Also has anyone ever noticed that the PS - 3 pitch shifter's delay messes up when you adjust the delay time while its on. Instead of giving that crazy wined-down effect it just glitches. is this normal? Sorry i cant give a clip.

No, it won't damage them. Why would it?

The delay time knob thing is normal. I have the PS3 and he DD3, they both do it.

lol i thought maybe if you used a distorted signal it may damage it. awesome to know this now.

O ok i thought something was wrong with my PS - 3. i really like that wined-down sound so that sucks that i cant get it.

you can NEVER damage a PEDAL by plugging in any other combonation of pedals. amplifiers and such are a completely differnt sound.

it might not track well(or at all) but it wont do any damage.

The "glitch" is inherent to almost all digital delay pedals out there when you adjust delay time. With few exceptions (none of which I can think of at the moment), turning the delay knob will not produce that smooth warping that you'll get with an analog delay pedal.

So yeah, nothing unusual. Some people actually use those glitches for experimental purposes.

And to echo what others already said (no pun intended ), pedal combos are fun and harmless.

Except to your wallet.

Don't know of any current products, but the old Digitech PDS series are the only digital delays I know of that don't glitch.

i think. im not for sure, but i believe i saw a dd - 3 do it once in a youtube vid. ill try to find it and post it later

Hey yeah, you're right, DD-3 does it, but is limited to something like 800ms delay.

That's a modulation effect, though. It's not quite what he's talking about.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Put the pedal in Tape mode, twist time knob. Give it a whirl!
