Does anybody "choke up" with the right hand when playing fast passages? Obviously you have to borrow the "play towards the bridge with higher notes" from the arco world. But do you play further away from the bridge during fast runs cuz there's less tension (and also less attack of course)?
In situations like that, I blame my breathing. More specifically the lack of it.
Slow deep breaths and relaxation seem to be more of a factor with speed/tension than right hand technique. Ironically, the more relaxed and slower the heartrate, it seems the faster and longer you can play difficult passages. Especially with pizzicato walking lines.
