Double Bass plane brand recommendation

Hi Everyone

I need a recommendation for a plane brand that is a good value for the money. I need to buy a smaller plane of 2 or 3 inches in length with a straight sole.

I am aware of the Rolls-Royce brands, but since I won't use the plane very often I would like to see if there is a middle ground without breaking the bank.

An adjustable mouth would be nice, or a similar mechanism like the one found on larger Stanley planes where there is an adjustable metal shim on top of the blade that achieves the same thing as the adjustable mouth.

I like some of Lee Valley's tools a lot. I doubt you will find an adjustable mouth for a plane that small. Something like this might fit the bill.

You could always take your chance(s) on ebay. If you are diligent, something good may pop up.
