plate amp for cab advice...?

hi, Im thinking an idea...I want know if there is possible put a class d plate amp into one of my cabs as a upgrade...

the same concept as bergantino IP series cabs...

I dont have idea which one or were find a decent plate amp to put into my cab...

any advice will be very helpfull...

I think you would be better of not doing it. Most cheap plate amps are junk and the good ones are over $1000 and they are about 10 lbs. Take a look.
Invalid Link Removed price is $1129

a little cheaper here
Invalid Link Removed price $973

I haven't seen any cheap, high powered, light-weight plate amps. But it would be cool if there was one.
Good luck.

You can buy essentially the same power module directly from SpeakerPower. Not sure what if any DSP implementation is in the direct sales models though. I've been gigging very happily with an OEM version of the SP1-1000 for a few years now. I have posted about it in numerous TB threads -- I do not have it mounted in a speaker cab and frankly I don't really dig the powered cab concept all that much for bass. ;)

Hypex has a few plate amps for sale on their website now as well. I have also seen the Bag End plate amp (another IcePower one) for sale in a few web stores.

thanks passinwind...the idea to put into the cab is to get all in one cab and dont carry with all separate...

Yep, I understand that. My take is that these plate amps are all too expensive to be married to only one cab, if you own a few different ones as I do. Since you still need a preamp anyway, having the amp in the same rack with it just hits the sweet spot for me.;)

is true that...the one you send me looks very equal than the bergantino used in his ip cabs....isnt?

The one I have is nearly identical, just one or two little differences that have nothing to do with how it sounds. I can't tell if the direct sales one has the same DSP (or any, even), you should ask Brian at SpeakerPower. The DSP in mine is a bit of a chore to program, but it does sound really good once you get it right. I am used to this sort of work, but it still took a while to start getting the results I was looking for.

Best of luck, whatever you decide to do.
