Double Bass "Play me somethin"

Let's say you're setting up for a gig, or you're anywhere else where your DB is present, and someone comes up to you and asks you if it's a cello, then after you politely tell him its a bass he asks you to 'just play me a little somethin.' What do y'all usually do in this situation? Do you play a little bluesy lick or do a lil walkin or play a familiar line for 'em? Is there a certain little thing or idea you usually pull out for situations like this?

Ok more seriously.

I have a list of bass features I plod through regularly - I'll just pick one of those. However, I received the advice fairly recently that a ballad should always top the list (as FED PUKESPRAY is demonstrating), so I'm working on some new pieces to add to the list. The heavier the listener, the slower the tune.

And it's gonna be only pieces that I really love playing.
