Played a MM Cutlass 1 this weekend...

... and it was nice. Very heavy. Big ass baseball bat carbon fiber neck. Very 'Rayish... not really my thing, but it was really nice.

How rare are these things? It was the first one I've seen, in person.

I have never seen them apart from in Pictures, and I've been to a shop where they have Vox Box Basses and a Gibson Grabber

A Cutlass was my #1 bass for decades. I bought it new back in '83 or so. The only downside was that it was heavy! That was because of the body, not the neck. Aside from that, it played great, sounded great. It also looked great: mine had a black body and black pickguard... because of the black neck, I called it my stealth bass.

Dave Pomeroy reviews one in a recent issue of Bass Player. I think he said that there were only about 600 made.
