Yea was confusing as they were labeled bass tons and treble tone and bass volume treble volume

the bass pickup is the one closest to the neck & the treble pickup is closest to the bridge

The Rick bridge is silly. I have a 4001 and a 4003. Replaced both bridges with Hipshots.

Yup, the "s" models are a great way to get into a Ric if price or comfort was an obstacle.

If I were not such not a five string guy, I would be first in line for a 4003s. I may be in line anyway because my first good bass was a Ric, and that brand has a special place in my heart.

Realistically if Ric made a 4003 with a sensible bridge, trebel bezel pre-installed, wired RWRP, with a shielded cavity, and called it the 4003M or something, I think it'd do well.

I'd still have to modify a 4004 to make it sound like I want a Ric to sound.

Basically the same controls as on a Gibson Les Paul or SG style guitar.

Tone and volume for each pickup, and a pickup switch. Pretty simple.

Basically the same controls, but they're mounted in a different configuration. Closest to the bridge are the tone controls, towards the edge of the body are the volumes.

"Bass" = neck pickup.

"Treble" = bridge pickup.

90% of the time I use the bridge pickup on its own.

Nah, as far as the bezel. Taking the one that's on my 4003S off when I have it refinished. RWRP would do nothing for me.

I agree, the bezel gets in the way of cutting your finger to shreds on the sharp corners of the big ugly hole that's left once you have removed the useless, annoying and preposterous hunk of cheap, faux tough-guy plastic that is the 4003's pickup cover.

I use the cover as a handrest or thumbrest, depending on if I'm playing finger style or pick style.

Same here. They have great customer service, set up my bass to my specs before it came to me, and came in tune out of the box. If I ever need another Ric (and I don't know why I would) it's coming to me from WW.
