Hello all. I've used the search bar extensively, but would love a direct answer to my question.
I want to buy a P, and have been told that the player series basses are quite a good value. More than half the price of the MIA ones is quite a difference. When I was young, you couldn't give me a MIM bass, but apparently their quality has improved dramatically.
My problem is this: I don't know that I would be able to put my hands on one before I bought it. The local guitar shop has one, but it's not the color I want.
My question is, can I safely order one and expect to get a quality instrument? And by quality, I mean the actual work on the instrument; my main fear being the frets. If I'm gonna have to take it to a luthier and spend another 500 bucks getting stuff done, I'd probably consider getting the MIA bass.
Please help! My prejudice from my younger years is strong and I'm not sure it is warranted.
