Playin in the rain

Had a bar owner once try to tell us to play when there was a roof leak.

Had put plastic over the keys, but it was dripping on them. SO still leaking by the electronics, but not hard. Ceiling tiles looked waterlogged though.

He wanted us to just move the keys over a bit to a dry spot and play. We didn't want to risk even that.

As we were arguing with him, all of us on stage, one of the ceiling tiles finally let go and splattered on bar owners head.

He had a change of heart at that point.. :D

Not a rain story, just an interesting gig story.

Had a gig in a small room in front of a small audience when the power went out. Fortunately, the guitarist had an acoustic guitar, and the drummer had acoustic drums. UN-fortunately, I was playing an electric Fender. After thinking for a minute, I rammed the headstock against the wall. The wall had excellent acoustics, and when I played really hard the audience could hear me.
Thank goodness I watch MacGyver.

The college touring choir I was in played at a gig in Puerto Rico where the building had a roof, but no walls. The back of the stage was open to the elements and it was absolutely pouring rain, blowing wind, and thundering. We were also about 20 yards from the highway. The rain was blowing in but the worst of it was that the bugs all decided to come under the shelter with us. The guitarist and I were swatting bugs off of our gear as they were crawling up our instrument cables.

That was a weird gig for sure. It was pretty funny later, but not at the time. :smug:
