Playing a 4 string bass vs a 7 string guitar

I just joined a band with two guitar players in it.(One 7 string rythem and one 6 string lead)Well I have been using a 5 string at band practices. I just bought a 4 string Warwick Thumb NT. Can I use it even tho we have a 7 string in the band? Dumb Question right!

Tune yor warwick BEAD and don't worry about it.

But understanding your situation a little bit better as in what music you're playing, how much the lower register will be used, ect.

Itll only be a problem if your rhythm guitar player goes below the low E on a normal 6 string, and then the only problem is that you wont be able to stay an octave below him.

Of course, you could also tune BEAD.

or you could play unison lines in the same octave. That can actually sound cool sometimes its massive.

Second time I've posted this, but check out [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. The guitarist plays a seven string, and the bassist plays a 4 string in standard tuning. Champagne ehring toward the high side helps a little, but when he is on the low B string, it sounds more muscular and less sludgy with Sergey staying in the higher octave. The problem is, guitarists these days love sludge, so that may be what you're stuck with.

What music is this metal, jazz, iranian?... Do you feel like you'll need to play an octave below the low E on the guitar all the time?

How does your guitarist play on the 7 string? Does he chug low notes all day?

I have a guitarist friend who swears by 7 strings because he uses the lower string to have lower positons higher up the neck. If you're band's not playing all their songs in C or B then you might not need it.

Just get an octave pedal and play an octave ABOVE your 7-string guitarist until he is infuriated and quits. Then you'll be in business.
