Playing Active Bass Through Tube Guitar Amp

Any factual info on potential damage to amp played at low volume. Amp is '65 Bandmaster w/ 2 Weber spkrs. Local tech says potential damage is to amp due to its frequency range being set up for guitar. Is this fact or fiction! Will bass frequency affect speakers response to guitar?

Don't just take my word for it, because I've never done it, but if I understand correctly, the amp will be fine, but the speakers could be damaged because they aren't designed to handle bass frequencies.

Anyone else that can verify that?

If it is a guitar amp you can play through it at very low levels but anything more than that will damage the speakers. They are not designed to handle the bass frequencies.
