I was not familiar with the meters. They will make a fine addition to my funk catalogI hear beartolini "pups" are the best for playing behind the beat.
Imo just keep listening to groovy music, Let one or two records soak in for weeks.

Just like most clocks aren't "slow" or "fast" - they're "ahead" or "behind" but going the same speed. Dragging means going slower overall, not just playing games with where the beat is.Be careful not to think of playing behind the beat as "dragging" the beat. There is a huge difference.
