a short while ago I asked for suggestions on how to deal with the sound playing in a tiled vault (Playing in a tiled vault - advice sought). I got many helpful replies, so I thought I'd do a gig report
The venue was the Victoria Building in Liverpool, UK. We played for a lovely bunch of people, about 60ish, for an hour in a lunchtime slot. The whole thing was part of a bigger event with other activities taking place around us.
First - we ended up controlling the sound with very tight volume control, and it was fine. A LOT of reverb in the room, but keeping the volume low was enough. I had asked the organisers to provide sound absorbing baffles (poster boards), but they ended up being used for actual posters somewhere else.
Drummer had more tea towels on our drums than you'd think possible, and had a very good grip on volume. Thank god for sensible drummers! Both vocals went through a small PA, guitar had a small amp (25W, great tone) and was more than happy with that. Bass went through a 200W Rumble, turned low, bass rolled off and low mids boosted, which resulted in a nice warm tone. I used my wireless system to deal in the whole band from the front of the house, and it was actually quite a pleasant experience. Slap back was not a problem, if you pay attention to your bandmates you'll stay in time

I realise I forgot to take a picture of the food, but they had the usual catered lunch from the "nice" end of the list, Chicken skewers, spring rolls, sandwiches, cakes, fruit, fish gujons, samoas, loads of veggie options for everything. We even got some of it
And then we played for an hour, and after a while we got some dancing and a lot of tapping feet. Two people took our cards away saying they liked the set and they were on the lookout for bands for similar events, so there's that
