So I play at the church service here on deployment and the main piano player is out so I'll be covering the service without anybody except for the singers and a little drums. So there's no real lead instrument and other than singers I'll be the only one producing tones for the songs.

Any advice on making the bass sound like there's more instruments in the mix? I've basically been playing fingerstyle and plucking individual notes in chord structures to make it sound a little more melodic or going octaves in 8th notes to get higher tones mixed in. I'm playing an acoustic bass if that helps.
