Playing through iOS device

I detest playing through headphones plugged into my practice amp (Fender RadBass, which is pretty crap to begin with) - a necessity when my landlady is home. Things just seem distorted in terms of intonation and the headphones (AKG R240) seem cumbersome to wear when I'm playing. What is the best alternative for playback through an iPhone or iPad? Or what would you do in this situation?

Better comfortable headphones and one of the better iOS interfaces. I use a Peavey link hd (with external power to keep spare iPhone powered) and travel with an irig hd. (Have power thingy haven’t used it)

Jamup is cute but being replaced by bias as software. It’s pretty easy to get something reasonable working.
