Hello TB'ers. I've been playing the EUB and double bass for some time now and have gotten used to playing in an upright style. I still play electric in the traditional style but any hollow body or acoustic bass guitar feels odd not held upright. My questions to you guys...

1. Am I the only one who finds it comfortable to play upright bass guitar??

2. Does anybody know any way I could get an endpin spike for my acoustic bass? The folk rock duo I am in are doing unplugged shows over the summer and I think it'd be neat to play my acoustic in an upright style

The only endpin type thing I could think of for your bass would have to be a DIY project, I don't know if anything made for the purpose. Why not take the upright (if you have one. You said EUB and double so I assume you do)?

Stickplayer- what brand/model is that? Ive been looking for a five string EUB to save up for ^_^

Those are the pricey NS Design models.

Or you can do what I did. Go the "less expensive" route and get the "lower level" NXT model. Same maker.

The main issue is space and some of our songs need a full acoustic sound. I'm perfectly fine with using my acoustic bass guitar but there's just the OCD-esque feeling that it should be upright xD I've seen models that have endpins, a takamine and a Paul Beard Resonator Bass but both are very expensive. The endpin stand for the Paul Beard itself is 200 bucks and I don't think you can order it separately from the bass. It's very adjustable and would be perfect minus the price and inability to order it. :(

I actually mentioned the Takamine. It would be perfect but the price is just too much for me. I basically need a very small portable acoustic upright bass or a way to make an acoustic bass guitar upright. The latter being the mos affordable option I am sure

I use a piece of 3/4 oak dowel with a strap lock fixed on to it.
This allows me to us the bottom strap button on the bass to fix it on, and remove it as and when.
Simply measure up the ball-end on the strap lock and drill a hole and Araldite it in.

Or use a guitar stand and sit it on top of your cab ( or cabs ) and play away. I use this method more now because my cabs are the correct size and height to suits me ( Aguilar DB112 cabs) and really take up no extra space.

Or if i am sitting, i use an old belt with a hole in it for the strap button to sit in, just loop that around my legs buckle it up, put the bass on it and that will support it and stop it slipping through my legs.:)
