Fender Precision Bass + Flatwound Strings + Pick + Palm Muting = 1 step away from feeling like someone is punching you.
While I prefer playing fingerstyle, there are certain songs that I like playing better with that sharp attack that comes from playing with a pick. i.e. Neil Young's "Powderfinger", Grateful Dead's "Ramble On Rose".
