Please can someone double check my string gauge selection for tuning (GGCFA) before I purchase?

Hi there,

Firstly, I don't want to tune up to my guitar, but down to it (heavy music of course).

My guitar is tuned exactly to G1, G2, C3, F3, A3, D4.

I think I need to tune my bass guitar to G0, G1, C2, F2, A2

I have a Jackson 5 string, 35" scale length bass guitar. Based on the Kalium string calculator I will need these string gauges:

G0 = .168 (I have purchased a .170 to test the tension and it seems ok).
G1 = .082
C2 = .063
F2 = .045
A2 = .035

Does all this look fine and dandy to you? Have I made a mistake or can you foresee any problems with this set up?

I used to tune to drop C on my five by going GCGCF
With .135 - .55 sounded pretty great actually.

Anything .135 and up will get you a halfway solid low G. Well, as solid as a sub-low tone will get at least.

How did this work out for you? I'm considering trying some Kalium strings on a Jackson 5 string and wondering about the length as well. Thanks!

Looks like the OP was last seen on here the day after their original post. It's unlikely you'll get a (quick) response. Insofar as Kalium goes, I love those strings. Keep in mind that shop, while somewhat well know, is a smaller boutique setup and may take time. Skip is a great guy based on conversations I've had with him. I'd really like to try one of his Quake basses (40" scale) tuned to F#.

Thanks I didn't think to check post activity, I tend to only stalk this forum. Those Quake basses look insane btw, I'd feel like a small child playing one but I'd love to check one out sometime.
